Bathroom Sinks and Vanities: How to Match Sink, Faucet and Drain

Matching bathroom sinks and vanities comes down to three checks: the sink type, the faucet pattern, and the drain. If one of the three does not match, the parts will not fit, and you learn that on install day. So this page works through each check using only what Veil's listings state. For the full range, browse the bathroom vanity with sink collection, then come back here before you order parts.

Bathroom sinks and vanities: the three points that must match

The sink, top and faucet holes are planned as one unit, so a mismatch in one place can block the job. However, the drain is the weak point, because no Veil listing states a drain size at all.

Sink types at Veil, and what each one means for matching

Most Veil models use an undermount sink: Aberdeen, Sonoma, Claude, Huckleberry and many more fix a ceramic or porcelain sink under the top. Because it is fixed under its own top, sink and top stay together as a pair. So you cannot lift the sink out later and drop in a new shape.

Instead, many models form the sink inside the top itself. Bannon, Stella, Clady, Glacier Bay, Lyton, Burgess, Domani, Larissa, Abruzzo and DeerValley all list an integrated or integral sink, so the basin is part of the top. There is no separate sink to swap. If you want a new basin shape later, you change the whole top, not just the sink.

A vessel sink is the rare case. Only one model uses one: the Longbay at 36 in, in the Walnut finish, with a black ceramic vessel sink that sits on top of the counter and a pop-up drain included. Also, Nile forms a ramp-style basin in its solid surface top, and the Maranon at 60 in forms two basins the same way.

Also, if you search for sinks for bathroom vanities as loose parts, Veil does not sell them, because each sink comes with its top and cabinet.

Faucet pattern: match the faucet to the holes in the top

A single hole in the top takes a single-lever faucet, and Avignon, MarbleLux and Carla use that pattern. A 4 in centerset top has three holes set 4 in apart, so it takes a centerset faucet. An 8 in widespread top also has three holes, but they sit 8 in apart, so it takes a widespread faucet instead. Listings state the faucet is not included, so you buy one to fit the holes. Our vanity with top and sink guide shows how to read that line.

But the pattern can change inside one model when the size changes. Korra and Gabi use 4 in holes at 24 in, but they switch to 8 in widespread at 36 in and up, and Huckleberry changes the same way. So a small size's pattern does not promise the large size's pattern. Doveton shows the gap too, because its 18 in size states no faucet pattern at all. Instead, read the pattern for the exact size you plan to order.

Claude is the one flexible case, because its tops carry knock-out holes, so one top can take a single-hole faucet or an 8 in widespread faucet. Still, that is one model's design, not a store-wide rule, so do not count on it elsewhere.

The drain: the part most listings leave open

The drain is where bathroom sinks and vanities most often part ways on paper. No Veil listing states a drain size, and most listings do not say if a drain is included. Only a few models include a drain: Nile and Maranon include concealed drains, and the Longbay 36 in in Walnut includes a pop-up drain. Stella states the drain is not included, so you buy that one on its own. Because the size is never printed, confirm drain fit on your size's listing before you order, and ask if it stays silent. Our installation checklist covers the drain position check before your plumber sets the rough-in.

Sink sizes, and the cutout size no listing gives

A few listings state the sink size. Huckleberry's sink measures 18 x 13 in at the 24 in size, and 20.87 x 13.58 in at the 30 and 36 in sizes. Sonoma lists an 18.1 in sink at 24 in and a 20.3 in sink at 30 in. MarbleLux lists a 20 x 14.9 in sink, and Beaufort lists 18 x 14 in and 21 x 14 in sinks by size. But no Veil listing states a sink cutout size. So if you keep an old top and swap only the sink, you need the cutout size from the maker, because the listing cannot give it.

When not to buy the faucet or drain yet

Do not order a faucet or a drain until the listing for your exact size states the pattern and the fit. Bathroom sinks and vanities reward a slow check, because sizes change the pattern inside one model. A faucet that fits the 24 in Korra will not fit the 36 in Korra. Also, do not order a spare sink for an integrated top, because there is no separate sink to replace. Instead, hold the parts order, read your size's listing once more, and buy only what it confirms.
